The PELUG constitution has very broad outlines of what the LUG should do and how it is made up. Please feel free read through it and let us know if you have any comments.

The group is very informal so don't be fooled by the fact that this constitution exists. Our mission is simply to 'provide support and promote the use of Linux and Open Source'.

Mission Statement.

• To support and promote the use of linux, and Open Source Software in general, in the Port Elizabeth area.

• To aid in the maintenance of tuXlab installations.

Definitions

• "Port Elizabeth linux User Group" shall mean the members of the Group and any honorary members appointed in terms of this constitution.

• "Member"shall mean a member of the Group.

• “Active Member” shall mean anyone who is a registered member of the PELUG website and is actively involved in LUG meetings and events on a regular basis.

• “PELUG Website” shall mean the website hosted at http://pelug.za.org.

• "Committee Member" shall mean any active member of PELUG.

Group structure.

Our group structure is informal.

The group is open to all those who would care to contribute to the advancement of linux and Open Source Technologies in the Port Elizabeth area.

All active members (as defined in this document) are considered to be committee members with an equal vote in all decisions.

Committee

The committee shall consist of all active members.

Meetings

Meetings are informal gatherings to discuss the uses of linux. No official agenda will be followed, although meetings will normally have a general topic which will be announced on the pelug-announce mailing list at least one week before the meeting.

Meetings will be held on the second Saturday of every month . The venue and time will be announced on the PELUG website and on the pelug-announce mailing list.
